A puppet show in Kanien’kéha (Mohawk language) that revolves around Tóta, (a grandmother who has a wealth of knowledge of Kanien’kehá:ka ways) and her grandson Ohkwá:ri (who is imaginative, curious and active). Tóta tánon Ohkwá:ri has over 14 seasons, each with five episodes (25-30 minutes each), and is broadcasted on the local cable channel in Kahnawà:ke. KORLCC also offers Tóta tánon Ohkwá:ri DVD’s to purchase at the Center and some episodes can be accesed on KORLCC’s Youtube Channel. The objectives of the show are to promote and foster Kanien’kéha oral proficiency abilities for viewers, to create awareness of the following health priorities in Kahnawà:ke; mental wellness, substance abuse/addictions, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer, to write the show in a way that the characters are firmly rooted in Haudenosaunee culture and values and that is inclusive for all children in Kahnawà:ke.
